Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) has invited suggestions and feedback from stakeholders, industry representatives, institutions, experts, and members of the public on the draft Rules and Regulations proposed under the SHANTI framework (Draft SHANTI Rules and Regulations ).
The consultation process covers two key documents –Draft SHANTI Rules and Draft SHANTI Regulations -which have been placed in the public domain for review and comments. Interested individuals and organisations are encouraged to examine the draft documents and submit their observations using the prescribed feedback formats provided by DAE.
According to the notification, respondents should clearly identify the relevant Rule, Regulation, or Clause while submitting their comments. The Department has also requested participants to provide their name, organisation, and contact details in the prescribed format.
The public consultation is expected to attract participation from utilities, technology developers, equipment manufacturers, research institutions, academia, industry associations, investors, and policy experts, given the importance of the SHANTI framework in shaping the future regulatory landscape of India’s nuclear energy sector.
DAE has specified that suggestions and feedback should preferably be submitted through the designated formats corresponding to the Draft SHANTI Rules and Draft SHANTI Regulations. Comments may be submitted via email to feedback.shanti@dae.gov.in.
The Department has clarified that all feedback received within the stipulated timeline will be examined and appropriate suggestions may be considered while finalising the Rules and Regulations. However, submission of comments does not create any obligation on the Department to accept or incorporate any specific recommendation.
The consultation exercise marks another milestone in the implementation of the SHANTI Act, which aims to establish a modern policy and regulatory framework to support the growth of nuclear energy in India and facilitate broader participation in the sector.
