Chennai, 23 September 2026: Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KKNPP) Unit-2 has crossed 700 days of continuous operation, excluding the refueling period, marking a significant milestone in the operating history of the plant.
With this achievement, KKNPP Unit-2 has surpassed the earlier record of 638 days of such continuous operation set by KKNPP Unit-1.
The milestone reflects the sustained efforts, coordination and teamwork of the KKNPP team in maintaining safe, reliable and uninterrupted plant operations.
Achievement represents another significant chapter in KKNPP’s operational journey and highlights the importance of strong operational practices, safety culture and teamwork in sustaining nuclear power plant performance.
KKNPP Unit-2’s latest operational milestone also adds to the plant’s record of reliable electricity generation and contributes to the continued role of nuclear power in supporting India’s long-term energy requirements.
700-day milestone is built on safety, teamwork and operational excellence, reflecting the collective efforts of the personnel involved in operating and maintaining the facility.
KKNPP is operated by Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), which continues to focus on safe and reliable nuclear power generation for the nation.
